It was standing room only at the Hidden Valley High School Auditorium where Republican Rep. Bob Goodlatte fielded dozens of questions for more than two hours.
There were a lot of opinions expressed at the session, with the vast majority opposing the reforms currently being debated in Congress.
Many people made their point with personal stories, including Chip Tearbutton of Fincastle.
He said, “My daughter had a serious accident a few years ago and was in intensive care and rehab for a couple of months and the bill was very high. There were several times that she could have died and I don’t want a government bureaucrat telling me and making decisions about what her health care should be.”
The crowd was very supportive of Congressman Goodlatte, who called the four reform plans in Congress dangerous. Instead, Goodlatte said our government should focus on liability reform and insurance reform.
