Republicans land in Roanoke for final campaign push

Hundreds showed up to the Landmark Aviation terminal at Roanoke Regional Airport Monday afternoon to see the Republican ticket, on its air tour of the state on the final day of campaigning.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell said even though polls show him with a comfortable lead, nothing is over until the polls close Tuesday night.  McDonnell told the crowd, “If you continue to work hard in these next 29 hours we will have a great victory for the roanoke valley and a win in virginia tomorrow night.“

McDonnell compared this current political race to a game of football.  “We’re in the last 30 seconds of the game and the other team is on the field playing hard,“ McDonnell told the crowd.

Current Lt. Governor Bill Bolling, who is running for re-election, and Attorney General candidate Ken Cuccinelli joined McDonnell in Roanoke, and on his seven region tour.

“If you care about the future of Virginia you need to vote for McDonnell, Bolling and Cuccinelli,“ said Bolling.

Hundreds showed up at the airport to greet the Republican Nominee?  What are these people thinking?  For all our lives, the people in western Virginia have always been treated as second class citizens by our state government.  Now we have the chance to vote in one of our own, a man we know will look out for us and there are actually “hundreds of people” in the Roanoke valley who are not smart enough to figure this out?

This race is not a democrat against republican.  This is about electing a man who shares our values, who knows what its like to live up in a hollow, who knows how to fish and hunt and live off the land.  He may have gotten an education but he sure ain’t no silver spoon from northern Virginia.
