For Angela Hatcher there's no place like home! She grew up in Bedford, went to Lynchburg College and her first news job was in Roanoke as a producer.
After two years anchoring and reporting in the mountains of West Virginia, she's happy to be back among the Blue Ridge Mountains and back in the WSLS 10 newsroom.
At WSLS, Angela has contributed stories to newscasts that have earned regional and national Edward R. Murrow awards and an Emmy. She was also part of the team that earned WSLS the Peabody Award for the station's coverage of the Virginia Tech tradgedy. Angela was named Best Reporter by the West Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters Association. She also produced and hosted the West Virginia and Ohio Best Documentary winner "A Hero's Welcome", a half-hour special about the capture, rescue and homecoming of former Prisoner of War Jessica Lynch. She broke several national news stories and her stories have been featured on MSNBC and CNN. Her story "Suited for School?" was a #1 story on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann".
Angela graduated from Lynchburg College, magna cum laude with high honors in Communication Studies, was named the Outstanding Student in Journalism and was a finalist for the college's highest academic honor, Sommerville Scholar. She is also a graduate of Liberty High School in Bedford.
