Alyssa has been intrigued by the weather since she was in grade school. It was at this young age that she won an umbrella decorating contest at the local "Rain Day" Festival. Alyssa has changed her interests slightly since then, instead of decorating umbrellas you can catch her weathercasts on the weekends on WSLS.

Alyssa joined the Storm Team 10 weather team in April 2009 and is originally from the southwest corner of Pennsylvania where she grew up as a Steelers fan. She attended Penn State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. There were many things she says she enjoyed about college, but her favorite would have to be cheering on her Nittany Lions in Beaver Stadium.

Although Alyssa comes from the Keystone state, she most recently lived in Louisiana where she began her career. As a member of the KTVE and KARD news team in Monroe, LA she did everything from forecast the daily weather to cover severe weather and even report on daily and breaking news.

When Alyssa is not forecasting the weather for southwest Virginia she enjoys tap dancing, traveling, shopping, exercising, and of course playing with her new puppy, Bella. She's extremely happy to be back in the mountains and looks forward to calling Roanoke home.
