UVA Cavaliers Coach Al Groh visits Roanoke Valley

In the college football ranks when last I left Al Groh, the Cavs’ head coach was telling me about his trip to Disney World with his grandkids over the summer.

That story came when he was meeting with the media at the annual ACC football gathering in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Thursday night coach Groh was in the Roanoke Valley, serving as the featured speaker for the Roanoke Valley Sports Club, at Hidden Valley Country Club.

The Cavs’ head man says it’s a trip he knows well, and explained the importance for the Cavs program.  Groh told WSLS that this was his 23rd trip to the Roanoke Valley that was not recruiting related.

Groh said he does it because this area has great Cavs fans, and wherever they are, that’s where he wants to be.
