“Coming into this season we had high hopes, and we didn’t think we were going to be in the same position we were in last year,“ receiver Dyrell Roberts said.
“A two game losing streak is not very common and it’s something we don’t like,“ tight end Andre Smith said.
If you think a two game losing streak is unusual for the Hokies, they haven’t lost three in a row since 2003.
Players like cornerback Rashad Carmichael say the weight of hitting the jackpot is gone. He says now it’s time to settle down and play.
“I tell my teammates, this is the fun part of the season,” Carmichael said. “The stress and the pressure is off of us. We can go out here, have fun and make plays.“
“I feel like we want to go back out there and make a statement whether that’s scoring a whole lot of points or playing Beamerball,“ Smith said.
“We just want to come out and show everybody what type of team we can be,” linebacker Cody Grimm said. “If we play the way we’re capable of, I don’t think we’ll lose.“
The Hokies want their stock to grow starting this Thursday night. The plan is to fill that pot back up with ECU Pirate purple and gold.
