Eastern Montgomery High School names new girls basketball coach

Eastern Montgomery High School names a Ferrum College graduate as its new girl’s head basketball coach.
The school chose Michael Hunter to take over the program. He’s the second all-time leading scorer in Ferrum College’s history, with 1,597 points.
Hunter made the All-Dixie Conference 1st team, and was named Dixie Conference Rookie of the Year in 1996. He made the conference’s 2nd teams in 1998 and 1999.
Hunter is also an Alleghany High School graduate. He was inducted into the Alleghany High School sports hall of fame in 2007.
Hunter previously coached at Christiansburg High School. He was the Assistant Coach for the Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team from 2000-2002, assistant varsity girls basketball coach from 2005-009, and head JV girl’s coach from 2007-2009.
