Extra security for Heritage vs. E.C. Glass high school basketball games Saturday

Saturday night, E.C. Glass and Heritage High School will play four basketball games on Glass’s home turf.  Unfortunately, in light of recent violence in the midtown/ downtown Lynchburg area, some community members have expressed hesitance in attending these games.

E.C. Glass staff would like to assure the community that they are doing everything possible to make sure the games are played in a safe and secure environment.  In that vein, additional police officers will be on hand and extra lights will illuminate the parking areas and parameters of the school. 

There is no question that many in the community on are high alert, but we will not let that affect the positive influence sports has on our students.  For the Hilltoppers and Pioneers, Saturday night’s games will focus on team spirit and friendly competition, not violence and fear.
