Week 8 post game notes and playoff breakdown:

THREE RIVERS DISTRICT, REGION C:

Floyd County 35 (6-0), Glenvar 6 (4-2):  Loss leaves Highlanders in extremely difficult position.  Maybe impossible position.  Buffaloes have a passing game with Luke Harris that is tough to defend.  He can pick apart a zone defense.

Radford 35 (5-1), Giles 28 (3-3): Loss hurts for Spartans but not quite as devastating loss as Highlanders.  Bobcats strength of schedule is poor.  It looks like they’ll only be ahead of Spartans by about 10 VHSL points, with Giles making up a lot of ground in bonus points.

REGION IV:

Pulaski County 28 (6-0), Hidden Valley 16 (1-5):  Cougars trailed for a while in this game.  They’ll stay ahead of Salem by about 10 points.

Salem 25 (5-1), Christiansburg 0 (4-2):  Loss hurts Blue Demons but was expected.  Christiansburg has put itself in a must win situation next week at Hidden Valley.

Bassett 27 (5-2), Tunstall 6 (3-4):  Win puts Bengals with a comfortable lead over Christiansburg in points, but remember, Bengals have played one more game than Blue Demons.  Bassett has a bye next week and become Hidden Valley’s biggest fans.

DOGWOOD DISTRICT, REGION B:

William Campbell 28 (6-1), Altavista 3 (5-2):  Loss hurts Altavista pretty bad.  Generals still alive for #1 seed in Division 1.  Campbell given up only 45 points this season.

Appomattox 32 (5-1), Dan River (2-3): Loss probably eliminates Dan River but this program has already made a great improvement.  Appomattox must keep winning to stay ahead of Goochland in the James River.
