Week 4 post-game notes
Week 4 post-game notes:
William Fleming 41, Heritage 7: The Colonels were by far the most impressive team this week. This is the clear favorite now in the Western Valley District.
Pulaski County 40, Franklin County 14: For AA teams like the Cougars, wins against AAA teams (Eagles) are always very valuable. Franklin County agreed to put Salem on the schedule next season.
Bassett 10, Hidden Valley 7: The Bengals turned it over 5 times and put the ball on the ground too many times to count. The Titans continue to have problems on offense, and at 1-2, the schedule only gets harder in River Ridge District play.
Salem 24, William Byrd 21: Big win for Spartans over a physical team. Still a lot of concerns for both of these teams on offense.
Blacksburg 28, Liberty 13: Trey Gresh continues to be the most complete quarterback in the region. Seminole District foes for the Minutemen probably enjoy looking at that score. It could mean valuable VHSL points come playoff time.
Floyd County 40, George Wythe 39 OT: Floyd County is the clear co-favorite now in the Three Rivers with Radford (42-0 winner over Grayson this week).
Others that could matter come playoff time:
Amherst County 34, George Washington 13: See above thoughts on Pulaski County.
Northside 32, Patrick Henry 20.
Tazewell 27, Carroll County 16.
