The Avalanche will be represented by a pair of stars in this year’s Carolina League vs California League All-Star Game.
Catcher Koby Clemens and infielder/outfielder Jimmy Van Ostrand will both be in Myrtle Beach for the annual mid-summer classic.
“I think their addition to the Carolina League roster is well-deserved,” Salem Manager Jim Pankovits said.  Jimmy has had an outstanding year and has been one of our most consistent and productive hitters while Koby has been a fixture in the middle of our lineup and continues to improve every day.”
Clemens, son of the major league pitching star Roger Clemens, is hitting .299 with 4 home runs and 26 RBI’s. He has 15 doubles.  Clemens has thrown out nearly 40 percent of possible base-stealers, second in the Carolina League.
Van Ostrand currently stands seventh in the Carolina league with a batting average of .304—and has 39 RBI. He’s played multiple games at first base, DH, and left field.
The Carolina League and California League will meet for the 13th time on June 24th in Myrtle Beach. The two-day event also will include the All-Star Gala to be held at Hard Rock Park at 7 PM on Monday, June 23rd.
