Danville Braves crush Pulaski Mariners 23-7

The Danville Braves blew open an already comfortable lead with nine runs in the eighth inning en route to crushing Pulaski, 23-7, on Tuesday night.

Danville scored in every inning except the third, with two each in the second and fourth, four in the sixth, three in the seventh before exploding for nine in the eighth. Already leading 13-5, the Braves hit three homers in the eighth inning, including a grand slam by Robert Hefflinger. Derek Wiley and Jordan Kreke also went deep in the frame.

Hefflinger finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs, including a double and two walks. Cory Harrilchak went 5-for-7 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Jeffrey Lorick picked up the win for Danville, after working 3 1/3 innings of relief. Starter Matthew Crim had a rough outing, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Reliever Brian Cloud took the loss for the Mariners.

Danville plays at Bluefield at 1:30 p.m. today.
