Denny Hamlin visits Hokies in Blacksburg

NASCAR Sprint Cup star Denny Hamlin was Coach Frank Beamer’s special guest at Hokies practice Thursday.

Hamlin enjoyed getting an inside look at the Hokies, learning everything from the profiles of young players, to how to call plays.

He talked about wanting to learn more about the nuts and bolts of the sport, as opposed to just watching on TV.

Hamlin was honored by the Hokies with his own personalized jersey, and he returned the favor by bringing Coach Beamer his own driver’s suit.

Hamlin talked to the team, drawing comparisons between football teams and racing teams, and urged the Hokies to pick up any team member who may be struggling, since just like in racing, everyone plays a part in the success of the team.
