Danville Braves defeat Burlington 7-5

The Danville Braves jumped out to a 6-0 lead through two innings and held on for a 7-5 victory Saturday night against the Burlington Royals.

Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg hit a two-out, two-run homer in the second inning for Danville. Robert Hefflinger finished 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. L.V. Ware and Mycal Jones each also had doubles for the Braves. Jones finished with two hits, two runs scored and one RBI.

Starter Ty Stovall picked up the win for Danville, going five innings and allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks. He struck out six. Jeffrey Lorick pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief to earn his first save of the year.

The series continues with Game 2 at 6 p.m. today.
