High School basketball semi-finals Tuesday

Cave Spring defeats Liberty, Lord Botetourt girls fall to Robert E. Lee

The state semi-finals for high school boys and girls basketball tipped off in Richmond Tuesday.

15 local teams are in the mix.

First up, the Lord Botetourt girl taking on Robert E. Lee. They fall 55-49.

Then, the Cave Spring and Liberty boys hit the hardwood. Both teams red hot coming into this game. Cave Spring wins the matchup 58-51.

An Adam Hager 3-point goal with 5:51 remaining gave the Knights the lead and they pulled away to win. Junior center Joshua Henderson led Cave Spring with 17 points.

The Knights play Brunswick for the state championship Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Siegel Center.
