From the racetrack to the clay course, Kurt Busch took a break from the Sprint Cup to shoot skeet in our area.
"Wanna race?" Busch asked from behind the wheel of a golf cart at Primland Resort in Meadows of Dan.
Busch, who is sixth in the Chase standings, knows how to fire a gun. He says he picked up hunting from his wife’s family and has used it as a way to unwind ever since.
"I think the outdoors are a great way to break away from everything," Busch said.
Even though Busch, who was dressed in jeans and camouflage, was relaxed and having a good time on the clay course, he was still carrying that competitive edge you are used to seeing on the track.
"I put the most pressure on myself, and I want to shoot well and beat my buddies,” he said. “That's what it's all about. It's healthy competition."
After a day full of shooting, it's time for Busch to get back to business. He's got six races to go to win the championship and based on his skeet shooting skills he has his eye on the target.
