BRISTOL - You'll oftne fins passionate pro-wrestling and NFL fans at NASCAR races, and Bristol hopes to capitalize on that.
Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) and Food City named WWE legend "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as the grand marshall for the March 21st Food City 500 Sprint Cup race, and Dallas Cowboys tight-end Jason Witten as the honorary starter.
Witten is originally from Elizabethton, Tennessee, which is near BMS.
“This is really going to be so much fun; I’m really excited about it,” said Witten in a news release. “It’s great to be coming home and I really can’t wait to get out to the Speedway. The races in Bristol have always been a big deal and now for me to be able to go back there and be asked to wave the green flag for the Food City 500,that really means a lot,” Witten added in the release.
“Food City is honored to have “Stone Cold” Steve Austin serve as Grand Marshal of our event,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City President/CEO in the release. “He has a huge fan base and it’s a credit to our region to have someone of his magnitude represent our company," Smith added.
