Ogukwe LU's second post player sidelined for season

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Liberty forward Sommy Ogukwe suffered an injury in practice last Saturday and will miss the entire 2011-12 season, Flames coach Dale Layer announced in a school release.

"This is a tough blow in many ways," Layer said. "Sommy had been playing the best he has in his career. We will miss him sorely on the floor. He has a great spirit and will handle this the right way in turning this into a positive. Our support and prayers go with him."

Ogukwe appeared in 30 games for Liberty last season and started twice. He finished second on the team with 22 blocked shots. With forward John Brown already done for the season with a knee injury, Ogukwe was expected to see a significant increase in playing time.
